How to Connect to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client
This KB will outline how to connect and perform basic troubleshooting for Cisco AnyConnect VPN.
If you are working remotely or need to access a secure network from a different location, you may need to connect to a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Cisco AnyConnect is a popular VPN client that allows you to connect to a secure network from anywhere in the world. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to connect to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client
VPN access is controlled via security group, (AnyConnect VPN Users). if a user is unable to login to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client because they do not have access advise them to fill out the Access request for CiscoAnyConnect VPN via Self Service Portal - https://helpdesk.gaudenzia.org/support/home
STEP 1 - Launch Cisco AnyConnect VPN
STEP 2 - Select Connect
- The first time a user logs in they will need to input the Gaudenzia VPN Address: azure2-gwwgbhrcdm.dynamic-m.com
STEP 3 - Enter network credentials. (Email Address/Password)
- Note: This might sit on a white screen. This is not an issue
STEP 4 – Cisco AnyConnect will then access for an MFA login. Have the user complete their MFA login
- NOTE: If the end user is located on site at the Corporate Office and connecting to VPN, they will not receive an MFA prompt and instead will receive a confirmation pop up window to accept the VPN connection. End users should click Accept to establish VPN connection.
STEP 5 – Once MFA authentication has been completed a confirmation window to complete VPN connection will appear, users should select Accept. VPN connection will be established and Gaudenzia network resources will be available to remote employees.
- NOTE: We are not allowed to grant any access to Gaudenzia VPN on a personal device, VPN is only available for corporate devices.
Troubleshooting
If the user is having trouble connecting to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client, check the following first before using the below troubleshooting
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection.
- Check that the VPN server address is correct.
- Verify that your VPN username and password are correct.
STEP 1 - Verify Active Directory account is not locked out.
STEP 2 - Verify the end user's password is not expired.
- Launch Command Prompt and enter the following command:
- net user %username% /domain
- Verify Password expiration date has not elapsed.
- If yes: Follow Password Reset Process KB
- If not: move to the next step.
STEP 3 - Verify the user is a member of AnyConnect VPN Users
STEP 4- Verify the end user is navigating to the correct VPN address: azure2-gwwgbhrcdm.dynamic-m.com
STEP 5 - Verify the end user is logging in with the correct login with their email address and network password.
STEP 6 - Reboot PC and attempt access to VPN.
STEP 7 - If unsuccessful reset the VPN connection.
- From the Cisco AnyConnect connection window, select the gear icon to access settings.
- From the Statistics page select reset. Close the settings window and attempt to connect to Cisco AnyConnect VPN.
STEP 8 - If reset does not resolve connection issues, uninstall and reinstall Cisco AnyConnect.
